Our Name. Our Inspiration. Our Legacy.

When my father, Clifton McIntire, transitioned from the independent living community he shared with my mother into assisted living, our family found ourselves navigating a new and unfamiliar chapter of care. We quickly realized that while his daily needs were being addressed, something equally important was missing: the personal attention, companionship, and human connection that make life meaningful.

We wanted more for him. Not simply assistance with daily activities, but the enhancement in his overall quality of life. 

To be reminded that even when life looks different than it once did, it can still be rich with meaning, connection, joy, and so much to look forward to.

My father had spent more than 40 years in the securities and financial services industry, building relationships grounded in integrity, trust, and respect. We wanted him to receive that same consideration in this new chapter of his life. Instead, we watched as the man we knew risked becoming just another room number or task on a schedule.

My sister, Lisa, and I wanted him to feel seen, valued, and cared for as the individual he had always been.

Through a family friend, Lisa found caregivers who took the time to know our father, share in his interests, and connect with him beyond his daily needs.

Before long, our father began to smile again.

That simple change meant everything to us. These caregivers brought companionship, patience, and genuine human connection into his life. They remained by his side through hospice, offering comfort and familiarity during some of our family's most difficult moments. A year later, many of those same caregivers cared for our mother through her own hospice journey.

They became part of our family. Their kindness and dedication left an impression that would ultimately inspire us to create Deneb Cares.

The name itself carries our father's legacy. After more than four decades in his profession, he established Cygnus Asset Management, LLC, alongside Lisa, who chose the name inspired by the constellation of the Swan. Deneb, the constellation's brightest star, became the namesake for the company we created in his honor.

Where Cygnus represented our father's professional legacy, Deneb Cares carries forward his personal one: a life defined by integrity, trust, and respect for others.

Today, those same values guide everything we do. We believe every person deserves to be known, valued, and treated with dignity. Not simply cared for, but genuinely cared about.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can do for someone is help them smile again.
